Abstract
Authors reported one case of uncommon hematopoietic system disorder, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH).
PNH is an uncommon, acquired paroxysmal form of hemolysis of unknown cause characterized by episodic hemoglobinuria occurring chiefly, but not always, at night, by hemosiderinuria, increased amounts of plasma hemoglobin, and a positive acid-serum (Ham) or sucrose hemolysis test and often associated with leukopenia or thrombocytopenia. The present case was admitted with chief complaint of pallor and progressive weakness. The patient appear to have a clinical improvement in response to oxymetholone in doses of 50mg per day, saline washed packed red cell transfusion and other conservative management.
